How we count

A number on an advocacy page is a claim. So here is exactly how this one is produced — and how you can check it. We would rather show a small honest number than a big unverifiable one.

The rules

• One action per browser, de-duplicated. Refreshes and repeat visits never add up.
• Bot-screened. A honeypot, a minimum time-on-page, per-network rate limits, and (when enabled) an invisible challenge. We do not claim perfect one-person-one-count.
• Never seeded, padded, or purchased. The count starts at zero and only ever reflects real actions.
• Hidden until it’s meaningful. The number stays private until it passes a threshold, so a tiny early count is never shown as social proof.
• Append-only, hash-chained ledger. Every change is one entry chained to the last; the displayed total equals the number of active supporters and can be recomputed from the records.
• Your own receipt. Supporting gives you a private receipt code — you can verify or remove your entry at any time.

Verify it yourself

This is the current fingerprint of the ledger. We publish it periodically so the history can’t be quietly rewritten — record it and check it later.

Privacy

• What we store. A random per-browser token so you’re counted once (no account, no tracking pixels). If you share a story, your name, email, and message.
• Your email. Used only to follow up about this message — never shown publicly, never sold. Ask us to stop anytime.
• Where it lives. Records are stored on Cloudflare and may be processed outside Canada.
• Removal & correction. To remove or update anything, contact Joe at hi@hubeiqiao.com — your support and any story are deleted and the count adjusts.
